Got the codes read at Pepboys:
P0300 random misfire P0301 misfire #1 P0302 Misfire #2
Going to try disconnecting the battery first to reset it and see if it comes back on. If it does, then I'm going to have the plugs checked. They were done at the most 2 years ago or 40k miles. It may have been last year. Not sure. If the plugs are ok, then we'll check the coil packs.
My mechanic listened to the engne last time and said the valves sounded fine, so i don't think it needs an adjustment, but who knows. Maybe it does.

I've seldon seen good results from "random misfire" codes. I have my fingers crossed for you, Vinny.

My mechanic thinks it might be plugs, but we'll know for sure when he checks it out. My engine still runs like a beast though.

My CEL came back yesterday. But oddly enough, it went off on its own today. My car is beginning to act like a chick!! It can't make up its mind!!

Read the codes today from the CEL: P0300 P0301 P0302 P0304 Ryan pulled out all the spark plugs and they said they all looked to be in good condition. He did them about 40k miles ago. Not sure what the problem could be. He asked me what kind of gas I used and how much was in the tank when the light came on. I told him I was on Shell 91 when the light came on with less than 1/4 left. I stopped at Chevron, filled up, and went to the bank. When I came out of the bank, the light was off. He told me to fill with Shell again to see if it comes back, thinking that maybe the gas had something to do with it. He said the car wouldn't run right if it was a bad coil pack. Don't know

There can be a whole bunch of things that can lead to those misfire codes. I know in Miataland ignoring those can lead to premature cat failure and then O2 sensor failure.

Still don't know what the problem was. The light hasn't come back. I filled up with Shell 91 again.

Had Ryan work on my car today. Read the codes again...now all 4 misfires and a P1399, something in the ignition system.
Looking up the codes, it could be bad gas, which him and I had discussed previously, fuel filter, coil packs, injectors, or valve adjustment.
So, I had Ryan do a valve adjustment since it had never been done and I went an ordered a fuel filter since I usually run my tank down to fumes. After he was done the valve adjustment, the CEL went out and hasn't come back on. I hope that was the whole problem. We'll see.
