I have not been driving this car much, so I decided to take it out running errands yesterday and got a CEL. I pulled the codes and reset the computer. I drove it again today and the CEL came back.
P0122 Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch A Circuit Low Input
Very interesting. Not finding much on the TPS going bad.

They don't just sell the sensor. Need a whole new TB @ $450 to $850. Found some diagnostics to perform, too.

This is a good example that the car should be driven....very hard sometimes, like at the racetrack

3 months out of warranty. Plus the SC voided it a long time ago. I don't think the SC has any part in this, though.
The TPS is calibrated to the TB at the factory, and put on using special screws so it can't be removed. They also mark it with paint to detect tampering.
I drove it for 80+ miles today after cleaning the connectors and re-seating them. No CEL, but the Scangauge shows that I am only getting 88% throttle at WOT. It also doesn't feel as fast.
As for tracking it, I need new brakes and new tires to start. I am getting some serious slipping going on in third and am not sure if it is clutch or tires. I back off the throttle a little bit and it stops. If it needs a new clutch too, I MAY go look at the new BMW M3. I have liked everything I have read about those so far... (and don't mention that to Vivian)

It can't need a new clutch already. I got 110k miles out of mine. Whew...now I'm really glad I didn't buy it from you

You did not smoke yours a number of times before discovering the CDV Honda added in 2004. And I have more power to smoke it with.

I have an idea...crack the bumper on both sides and in the middle and say it fell off a trailer while in gear. A new clutch will only cost you $250

I need your insurance company's name first.
This slippage is odd. It happens in third about the time VTEC kicks in. Not in second, first, or fourth. Clutch is fully engaged. Unless the slave cylinder is not fully releasing... Wish I knew for sure that the wheels were not spinning. I really doubt it, though. Just another thing to look into. Doubt I will do it this summer, or even this year. Easier to just take it easy on the car.

That is odd that it does it in 3rd, but not in 2nd or 1st, especially since there is more pull in the lower gears. Makes me think there is something else wrong than the clutch.
Woo-hoo...Post #1000!!

Maybe I will jack it up and bleed the clutch this weekend. Make sure it is not sticking. First and second go by so fast that I may not noticed it happening, or it takes more time at power to develop. I doubt that I have taken it up into VTEC for very long in fourth in years. Going to fast for freeways. It could just be more noticeable in third.
I am so caught up in working on the Miata that I don't want to spend the time and money to address the problems with the S2000.

It came back this weekend, ad is not going away. The idle is way high, too. I guess I either need to get professional help or bite the bullet and do it myself.

Entropy, man. Things don't really tend to get better on their own. When it came on, I was pretty sure what it was. Pulled the code as soon as we got home, and sure enough, P0122. It is idling about 1700 rpm, too. I only have to fix it before next April when it gets it's first smog test. Of course, I bet I get it done long before then.
