Welcome to CJinSD. CJ was a roommate of mine a few years ago and is quite knowledgeable about cars, all types from all eras and a Formula 1 follower. I look forward to hearing his insight on different topics. He is the one who mad me a believer that JV is a complete buffoon of a race car driver.

Thanks for the welcome, Vezna31. Did it really take you until 2002 to realize that Checques Villenueve was a complete buffoon?

Only because I didn't start watching faithfully until you were a roommate, so the answer is yes.

Welcome, SIIK2NR (Tim). Tim posts regularly on S2Ki and was supposed to get together with me a long time ago to play some racquetball before he was deployed. I'll have to take a raincheck for about 6 months or so since I have to get rotator cuff surgery soon.

Welcome, Baddassc6! A few months ago, I approached the CCOSD (Corvette Club of San Diego) about maintaining a presence on our forum, but they never replied. I know the person that does their website. We have been doing a drive to either Julian or Idyllwild pretty religiously on a monthly basis. We missed the month of April because it was tax season for me and there is no drive for June scheduled because I had shoulder surgery last week and am currently unable to drive. But that may change with the progress I am making. Even though we are non-car specific here, a lot of San Diego events are posted on S2000.com under the San Diego Chapter section of the West region. Mostly all of my event related posts are on both sites, but some people still do more posting over there than here, so you should should check it out just in case i am not involved in it. http://s2000.com/forums/san-diego-chapter/Welcome and enjoy.

Also, if you have done a bunch of HPDE's with NASA, then I'll have to introduce you to CFRA - Checkered Flag Racing Assoc. They are a private, NON-profit club that offers more time, less cars, relaxed passing rules, and better prices than any other organization on the West Coast. My last day at Laguna Seca was $225 for five 30-minute sessions and only 25 cars on track at a time. They only run 3 groups - R(acing), A(dvanced), and B(eginner).
The only way to go to a track day with them is to be a guest of someone first. After running with them, they ask the membership if anyone had anything negative to say about the guest drivers. If there is nothing negative, they will offer membership. If there is a negative, they won't offer membership, but you are still allowed to attend future events as a guest of someone and can still be offered membership in the future.
The B division is the equivalent of a high intermediate of most other orgs and is quite fast. They do not allow first time drivers. They do allow drivers from higher groups to run in lower groups for extra time up to the max of 25 cars. So, last year at Buttonwillow after some people had left, I had full blown race cars on track with me in the B group. Talk about closing rates!!
